About this programme

There is a version of leadership presence training that is essentially acting class. You learn to stand differently, project your voice, and perform confidence. Some people find that useful. A lot of people find it exhausting and unsustainable.

A different starting point

This project is built on the idea that presence comes from clarity — clarity about what you think, why it matters, and how to say it without hedging. The work focuses on removing the habits that undermine credibility: over-qualifying statements, deferring when you have a view, staying quiet in meetings to avoid conflict.

One early exercise asks students to record themselves in a low-stakes meeting, then review the recording with a specific checklist. Most people are surprised by what they notice. Participant Brefni Calloway described watching herself constantly soften her own opinions mid-sentence. She had not been aware she was doing it.

Who this is for

The project works best for people who already have substantive expertise and are not being heard the way they should be. It is not an entry-level programme. Students should have at least a few years of professional experience and ideally some experience leading or influencing others.

The final project involves a prepared presentation to a small group with structured feedback. The feedback is specific and direct. Some people find it uncomfortable. It is more useful than general encouragement.

What feedback sessions look like

Sessions run 45 minutes. Two observers use the same rubric and give written notes. The focus is on clarity, pacing, and how well the presenter handles questions under mild pressure.
